Roost Master’s Web Roundup Extra! Epic! Edition

10 Kills!Ha! Betcha didn’t expect to see me perching up here again so soon! I have gathered an excessive amount of Pigeon Droppings for this edition of the ‘ol Roundup. More after the jump!

A new e-zine, with the insanely original name of “HEROIC FANTASY QUARTERLY” is accepting submissions for short stories and poetry. http://www.heroicfantasyquarterly.com/. Might be worth a look once it comes out this summer.

Cripes! Cryptic Studio is making a STAR TREK ONLINE game. I can only think of one thing…”Snotty beamed twice last night…it was wonderful!”

Star Trek is going to be big this year, what with the release of the new flick and everything. They’re going to be on Family Guy too with a Star Trek: TNG reunion on the show.

Family Guy has always been very much fanboy-driven, which reached new heights when the show was giving the blessing of George Lucas himself to spoof Star Wars. Following the very funny spoof, called Blue Harvest, it is expected that both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi will also be coming, starting next season with the Empire parody.

Now comes word that their fanboy love affair won’t be stopping there. The popular animated Fox series will also be branching out into the world of Star Trek with an episode called “Not All Dogs Go To Heaven,” set to air on March 29.

The difference here is that the episode will be a Family Guy episode with the integration of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation into that particular episodes storyline, which follows the Griffin family to Quahog’s annual Star Trek convention.

How cool is this?! :

I found an awesome site that I think almost everyone should visit. It is called The Cimmerian. You should bookmark it RIGHT NOW. It is one of the best written blogs out there, ever. For example, there is an article there that argues why slow and stead zombies are more horrifying than fast zombies.

I am so glad that the UN doesn’t have anything better to do.

The Topless Robot has a picture of the new Destro and 10 Star Wars toys that look like celebrities and 10 Misleading NES box art. Matter of fact, that site rules, so just go over there for a little while and then come back here (disclaimer: liberal use of harsh language).

Looking for some pulp fiction? No, not Pulp Fiction, the QT masterpiece, but real, written word pulp fiction? There is a whole site out there dedicated to rating these stories.

Check out all these free games.

Finally, a card game that even I can get excited about: http://adventurergame.com/

If I had $317,000, I don’t think I’d spend it on this.

Fat Dragon Games has signed an agreement with Chaosium to create 3D gaming terrain sets for the Call of Cthulhu role playing game.

Some Dude has compiled a list of literary sources for D&D

“Classic Battletech” is dead! Now it is just “Battletech“. Speaking of giant robots, Palladium is still out there plugging away with Robotech.

Some guys made up their own Knights of the Old Republic Sourcebook for Star Wars d20 (3rd Edition). Despite a few canonical errors (e.g., The Sith did not de-evolve into the Massassi on Yavin IV…the Massassi were merely the slaves of the Sith; Hutts living during this timeframe would not have had any first-hand knowledge of Xim the Despot who lived roughly 21,000 years before KotOR), and occasional spelling errors, this fan sourcebook is a wonderful piece of work.

Whole Lotta Movie Stuff:
THOR is being cast! Thor, which will be directed by Kenneth Branagh, will be released a year later than originally planned, in June 2011. The First Avenger: Captain America is expected out on 22 July 2011, though no casting for lead role has been announced yet. Also, The Avengers – a multi-character movie featuring the likes of Iron Man, The Hulk and Captain America – will be released in May 2012. Marvel say the decision has been made to avoid clashing with other superhero films due out at the same time. Casting is coming together for Iron Man 2 with Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson recently signing on for the project, which will start shooting this year. The fourth installment of Spider-Man has also been announced, and another Batman movie looks likely after the huge box office success of The Dark Knight. In addtion, Samuel L Jackson recently signed a nine-picture (across several of these Marvel Films) deal to play superhero Nick Fury. In an announcement that no one likely saw coming, legendary actor Peter Fonda (Easy Rider, Ulee’s Gold) as well as Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) have both joined the cast of Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.  Mr. Fonda will be playing a character who has quite the intriguing name, The Roman. No word as to who The Roman is or what he does, but it sounds nice and scary to me. Judd Nelson will be playing Concezio Yakavetta, whom I’d be silly not to assume is a member of the mafia family from the first film; likely seeking revenge for his fallen brother? Maybe cousin? Could be interesting. As we know, the movie also stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as the Saints and Billy Connolly as their father Il Duce. Also new to the party is Clifton Collins Jr. as Romeo and Julie Benz (Darla from Buffy/Angel) as Eunice.

Time for the media dump!
