Another week, another Web Roundup! Prepare to waste away in front of your monitor and waste time prepare for your next glorious game themed web conquest! Sunday Press sized! Yes, yes, I know there was a Roundup released yesterday but I want to get this thing rolling out on a (hopefully) regular basis on Sundays.
Caution! This blog post has sharp edges! Do not touch the edges of this post!
First, in case you’ve never heard of them, let’s all give a big Hacktastic shout-out to The Escapist. The Escapist is a web page devoted to the betterment of role-playing games and the education of the public and media of their benefits to society. Now that our PSA is over, we’ll continue with the nonsense!
Fat Dragon Games is the publisher of awesome, detailed cardboard terrain. They just released Borderland Keep.

We know that you may not have the time to build sets like our own Hacktastic terrain, so I thought I’d point these out for you and your home games. These are books full of cardboard terrain cutouts perfect to bring some extra verisimilitude to your games.
From our “Some Old and Something New” department:
RedBrick Limited confirmed that the Age of Legend campaign setting for Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition role-playing game is currently in development. Age of Legend is based on FASA Corporation’s Earthdawn fantasy role-playing game.
Roost Master’s take? While the wily Pigeon wishes RedBrick nothing but the best of luck, Earthdawn + 4e = World of Warcraft Earthdawn
Somewhere, Dunkelzahn (or Mountainshadow) is turning over in his grave. This sounds more like a peanut butter and tapioca pudding sandwich than peanut butter and jelly sandwich to this geek.
Speaking of dead dragons and dead franchises, Catalyst Game Labs is set to bring back Classic Battletech, Shadowrun and Mechwarrior novels back to bookstores. Look for the first MechWarrior novel, A Bonfire of Worlds by Steven Mohan, Jr. in November 2008, followed by the first Classic BattleTech novel, Shadows of Faith by Loren L. Coleman in December. The first of the all-new Shadowrun novels will appear in January, 2009.
We know you love free stuff. Here are some free RPG video games. Cute little games to kill whatever time you have left in the day.
From our “The First One’s Always Free” dept: Someone needs to demo and let us know on the forum how good this thing is. It may be Hacktastic, indeed.
And now for a complete waste of time: Check out this real life werewolf! For reals!
Here is a free dungeon generator.
Kenzerco: “Hey Wizards of the Coast! Yeah, you big guy! UP YOURS!”
ChattyDM (one of Roost Master’s regular haunts): “Hey Wizards of the Coast! Yeah, you big guy! Your online content SUCKS!”
Another good article from the ChattyDM, this time on teaching RPGs to newcomers.
It is a good thing someone out there has a way to help you understand if you are a dork or not.
If geeks talked about cookbooks the way they talk about RPG books, the results would not be pretty.
This commercial has been playing quite a bit on Spike TV. Just in case you haven’t seen it yet, behold:
