Roost Master’s Web Roundup July 27, 2008

Posted by: Roost Master   in Web Roundup

Here’s your weekly roundup of gaming and pop culture nonsense! Loaded with Easter Egg links! First off, does anyone remember West End Games? At one time, WEG was all of 80’s and early 90’s gaming goodness with their D6 system. With the Star Wars RPG and Ghost Busters RPG licenses, things were good. Then Wizards of the Coast was awarded the Star Wars license and everything went to hell for WEG. Then some dude bought all of the WEG intellectual property. Now it is all for sale.

The guy running the show over there at WEG had a public go round with some haters over on the RPG.net forums after he announced that a product they were producing wouldn’t be coming out and he couldn’t refund anyone’s preorder money. And now, the chap who runs a pretty popular gaming blog wants to get a confederation of bloggers and industry types together to buy everything and make an Open D6 license.

Great Drama.

Following up with Kezerco’s decision to make stuff for 4e without using the new license for D&D, Louis Porter Design Studios have produced a logo for “works with 4e rules”. The logos were originally uploaded to RPGnow.com for distribution but have since been removed. Roost Master assumes that WotC’s sharky lawyers got to RPGnow.

GnomeStew has a nice article about Character Ownership. Just who does a PC belong to, anyway?

Warning: Not Gaming: From our History Repeats Itself Department: Terrorist Attacks in New York. Damn Interesting.

At last. Bobba Booey, Bobba Booey! Howard Stern and XM… Sirius merger finally approved by FCC.

Need motivation?

Gary Gygax’s Legendary Adventure is making a comeback. His widow has seen fit to make sure his legacy continues. I just hope she doesn’t go all Chris Tolkien on our collective feathered behinds:

Lord of the Rings:

This looks like some of Roost Master’s friends after they’ve watched some WWE or Fight Club. Pay close attention to the guy with the nunchucks.

And finally…

You have truly outdone yourself this time around. I laughed, I cried (because I was laughing so hard at that “fight” video), it changed my life for the better (at least for this morning, I no longer have a case of the “Mondays”.

Thanks
