Why stay 3.5 for your D&D gaming?

First off the massive amount of source material already produced for the 3.5 version is staggering. just the amount of other publisher adventures is really worth it to stay 3.5 at least for a couple of years.

the 3.5 version has been played, tested and revised numerous times. Most of the few problems with the system have already been ironed out.

There are already a massive amount of 3.5 version players, so finding a game will be a bit easier.

Cons: If WOTC makes 4e open like 3.0 and 3.5 have been, other publishers will most likely start producing material for the new system and leaving 3.5.

Core books will become harder and harder to acquire, so new players will not be able to get their hand on them as easy as they need.

If you have any thoughts on the subject, feel free to comment. I would really like to hear some other viewpoints on the subject, either pro or con.

I don't like it one bit. As BigE stated, everyone has an extensive amount of time and "MONEY" invested in 3.5. So why go to 4e? Some sissies complained about rules that they didn't like. "Oh let's change it so we can play the game the way we want to. Tree hugging hippy crap I say.
If you don't agree, I'll be in the alley waitin' for you.

This is the same crap that happens ever time rules updates come along. I have a pile 'O 2nd edition stuff that I refuse to give up and when I play it will be out of someone elses books or it will be 2nd edition or another game system. The thing is that the company has been around a while so they have to make money…. so they come up with updates and rules revisions to justify the expenditure.

Look at MTG. Same crap… type 1 is gone… 1.5 is so far out there people refuse…. type 2 is only option… because it is self recycling and forces people to buy more product.

Axis and Allies. It may not be as bad, but the same thing holds true. I enjoy sitting down and playing the original as much as Pacific or any of the other new ones. Money scam.

How about Warhammer Fantasy miniture battles… same crap… played for years on 1st edition over at BigEs house. Had a blast. Along comes the next edition chuggin and wanting to start the big money pit going again. What is it, 4th edition… proving we all keep spending and spending.

My point is that companies do this crap. They make a game or product. When it stops moving they want more money. So they make more things to sell. My only real bitch is when they take all the things you have bought in the meantime and make them usless as far as new gamers go.
