They could, BUT you would still need the 30 ranks in forbidden lore. So with that said it is unlikely, but not impossible. Remember that is for "official" play only. If you can get your GM to be cool with it I don't see a problem, though that makes them less special for those folks who become Crookspells.

did you mean 10 forbidden since that is the pre-req? would i also need the 10 magic lore? looking at the hardcore character, i'm wanting to beef up his set/remove traps, observer to find them, and pick locks quickly, with the spells springer touch, trap eyes, and ghost key spells. I am 25 points (minimum) from crookspell, but if I can do this it would be just a few points sooner i could get those benefits.

No it is 30. If you will look on the top of the Crookspell spell list you will see that ANY PC that is not a Crookspell must have 30 Ranks in Forbidden Lore to take the spells. Because they are a spells taught by a secret society, otherwise everybody would just buy them. I think you would be better off to become a Crookspell, than to just take the spells.
